Mission Statement

The mission of Feed the Streets America is “to fight poverty, eliminate hunger and improve the living condition of underprivileged individuals and families in America through access to healthy and nutritious foods, advocacy and community development.”

Hunger Facts and Figures

The United States of America is one of the wealthiest nations in the world. Yet, according to the Food Research and Action Center, more than 37 million Americans live in households that struggle against hunger.

  • Households in rural areas are experiencing considerably deeper struggles with hunger compared to those in metro areas, with higher rates of food insecurity overall (12.7 percent compared to 10.8 percent), and higher rates of very low food security (4.8 percent compared to 4.2 percent).
  • Nearly one in seven households with children cannot buy enough food for their families.
  • The food insecurity rate for households with children (13.9 percent) is two-fifths higher than the rate for households without children (9.9 percent).

Consequences of Hunger

The World Health Organization considers food and nutrition security a top priority and basic human right. Without adequate food and nutrition, children are unable to reach their full development potential both physically and mentally.

Nutrition deficiencies affect more than 2 billion people worldwide, causing a reduction in learning capabilities and livelihood development (WHO).

How We are Fighting Hunger

We provide food to children and families in the streets of America. This is because the first emergency need of a hungry man is food. We also train people on the importance of nutritious diet. With proper nutrition early in life, children can grow, develop and thrive to their full potential.

We partner with local organizations, government agencies, businesses and well-meaning individuals to ensure families living in poverty receive much-needed supplies.

Together, we can create a support system that ensures no one goes to bed hungry.
